Andreas Englund answers what happens to superheroes when they start to age in a day in the life series of paintings.
“I want to let people know the full story of the life of this superhero. One part of it is getting old, but he’s also portrayed in other periods of his life.
I think my superhero is like most people. No better no worse. Only his job is to be that great hero who saves the world. In that story is a big drama. He is supposed to live up to everyone’s expectations which is quite stressful and, I think, many can relate to that situation.
Capturing the lives of “perfect people” is boring and predictable. I like the human flaws and weaknesses. I need to see that in a character to believe in him, to care about him and to be interested in him. There is also a drama in putting this extraordinary superhero in an everyday life situation.
But that doesn’t mean I want to portray him as a fool or incompetent in any way. He’s just like anyone else except for his unique powers.”

How To Create
Coca-Cola: Space Invaders Edition is a concept design by Erin McGuire dreamed up for Coke products Coca Cola, Diet Coke and Coca Cola Zero. Erin’s designs bring the 8-bit world of Space Invaders to the 3D world of Coke cans. This is a perfect fit considering all of the custom can collaborations that Coca Cola is doing. The only problem would be officially collaborating with Space Invaders on this. Maybe a 35th anniversary edition in 2013? We can only hope.

This is awesome - Jesse Eisemann, who illustrates and writes for CollegeHumor and Dorkly.com, created an interactive map of New York City based on the style of Super Mario World!
My favorite bits are the ghosts floating over old landmark places that are either graveyards or presumably haunted by their former occupants. Also, the mario bridge representation of a real bridge is pretty cool.
Oh, and that Mario at the top? He’s Hipster Mario in Jortveralls.

Child’s Own Studio allows children to do bring their drawings to life by handcrafting unique stuffed toys out of their doodles. The real question is, will they let you create one of your own? If so, I can’t wait to get my plush iPhone 5.
It just makes sense.

Lomography Chile organized a hand-made lomowall with 7000 individual analogue photographs called, “La belleza de la vida real”. All this photos generates an abstract pattern covering a 20x2,4 meter (66x8 feet) wall, and took a bunch of enthusiastic people more than 28 hours to paste every photo. The work of 471 photographers is being exhibited until late September at the Centro Gabriela Mistral, and will travel around Chile during the year.

This is so amazing. I’m glad this exists. More artists need to reinterpret comic book covers of my youth. Maybe someone will cover some of the other non A-list superhero teams I used to read when I was younger: West Coast Avengers, Excalibur, X-Force, and… The New Warriors. No, I’m not ashamed of them. I was a hipster comic book nerd because I liked the teams that weren’t popular before anyone knew about them.
