Iconic Torsos by Matthew Gallagher

Artist Matthew Gallagher proves that we only need to see a part of our favourite characters to instantly identify them. From Captain America’s ripped leather torso to Spiderman’s mesh suit, the unmistakable details of these costumes bring to mind a powerful and iconic image.

LEGO's DC Superhero Minifigure #NYCC Exclusive! Superman, Batman, Green Lantern + MORE!!

I will buy them all and there will be collateral damage for anyone that gets in my way, just like a woman at a deeply discounted Louboutin sale. Don’t get in my way and there won’t be problems.

On a more serious note, this is one of the coolest collaborations that I’ve seen in a very long time. DC + Superheroes + LEGOs + NY Comic Con + exclusive = Must have. The only thing that would top this would be if Marvel does something equally as covet-worthy. We’ll just have to wait and see. Coolne.ws will be reporting from the trenches, bringing you all breaking info from NYCC.

Andreas Englund answers what happens to superheroes when they start to age in a day in the life series of paintings.

“I want to let people know the full story of the life of this superhero. One part of it is getting old, but he’s also portrayed in other periods of his life.

I think my superhero is like most people. No better no worse. Only his job is to be that great hero who saves the world. In that story is a big drama. He is supposed to live up to everyone’s expectations which is quite stressful and, I think, many can relate to that situation.

Capturing the lives of “perfect people” is boring and predictable. I like the human flaws and weaknesses. I need to see that in a character to believe in him, to care about him and to be interested in him. There is also a drama in putting this extraordinary superhero in an everyday life situation.

But that doesn’t mean I want to portray him as a fool or incompetent in any way. He’s just like anyone else except for his unique powers.”

My Modern Met has the interview and the rest of the paintings here.

Now this is awesome. Marvel superhero cakelet molds. If I had this when I was a kid there would’ve definitely been more boys baking! I mean, who doesn’t get perverse pleasure out of eating a face. Don’t tell me you never enjoyed biting off a gingerbread man’s head.
My favorites from the product summary:

Team up with legendary superheroes as they battle evil, avenge dastardly deeds and spread dessert throughout the universe. The action begins in the kitchen, where our cakelet pan brings six favorite Marvel comic-book characters to life.
After baking, use colorful icings and sprinkles to give your heroes their superpowers—and let the action begin!

Buy it here for $36.

“On a routine space expedition, four regular bowling balls were accidentally bombarded with cosmic rays and gifted with fantastic powers to battle the pinheads of crime. Now, whenever the lights go out and the evil disco ball rears his ugly head, it’s cosmic bowling time!” says designer Ivan Guerrero (aka sirdiddymus).  We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Score Cosmic Bowling now!
